Job Description

A Medical records technician assembles patients' health information including extracting medical history, symptoms, examination results, diagnostic tests, treatment methods, and all other healthcare provider services from medical reports and typing it into a summary approved by the examining physician. Technicians organize and summarize medical records by ensuring its quality and accuracy. Duties include:

• Responsible for meeting expectations for report timeliness.
• Deciphers handwritten and typed documents to provide summary.
• Must be able to do occasional STAT reviews, i.e. 12-24 hour turnaround.

Education, Experience and Skills

• Education Level: Bachelor's Degree or working experience
• Working medical terminology experience a must
• Proficiency with Windows XP, MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent knowledge of word processing software
• Experience in a medical-legal related industry
